So, I am very sorry about my tardiness in posting.  Life here gets quite busy and it is easy to forget some obligations we have.  So I shall do my best to update you on what has happened in the last couple of weeks.

The lecture topic for the week before this past week was World Views.  We had a man named Rick Thompson come and teach us that week.  It was really cool to experience his way of teaching.  He made it very clear at the beginning of the week that he was going to be targeting our minds and making what we believe relate with what we think.  It was a refreshing week of being able to really think for ourselves and use our mind in how we walk out our faith.  Rick went over the three main world views (now these are very general world views that try to describe what the different religions believe).  The first was the Biblical Christian World View, the Secular World View, and finally the Eastern World View.  Rick described what each world view belives and gave us tools to how to share the gospel with them.  Rick also stressed meeting people where they are and applying the gospel to their current situations.  A lot of times we turn people by just telling them right away about Jesus and what He did for them on the cross without finding a bit about the person first.  I'm not saying don't share the gospel, what I'm saying is that we need to find where people are, and find a avenue to introduce the gospel and make it very applicable to where they are.

Then this week was Bible Overview which was taught by our base director Tom Osterhus.  This topic has not always been taught in DTS and there are still some bases that don't each it, but it is taught over 2 weeks in the School of Biblical Foundations in Missions (SBFM).  It was originammy taught inthe SBFM here, then someone brought it into the DTS.  It has spread to other DTS's through previous students here taking it to another base and stressing the importance of it.  I really enjoyed this week.  Tom started by creating a timeline of the Bible and the major events.  He sent through each one, some in extensive detail, others more generally but he went through each one and how they point to the cross.  He use the example of a story; the three main points in the Bible are (a) creation (b) fall and (c) God's plan with redemption, the main character is Jesus Christ, and the main theme is God's redemption for mankind.  I thoroughly enjoyed this week and all that was taught.  We got to see the Bible as a story book of the biggest events in the history of humanity.  I am a history nerd, but this week was so refreshing.  It also required us to think and apply our faith to our mind and thought life.  The Bible is a big book and we only had 12 hours to cover it on, so it was quite rushed, but I still got a lot out of it.  As I begin to read through the Bible, I can't wait to begin to get into it with more depth because of what Tom has taught this week.

On another note, there is a local Christian school that each of our outreach teams had the opportuinty to go to this week.  Our Bangladesh went on Wednesday morning.  It was super fun and the kids there were great.  We did a couple of fun camp songs, Bangladesh fun facts, pictures, a brief description of what we will do there and finally our skit that we will be doing there.  The kids were great, they knew our fun songs, really enjoyed the skit (10 of them must have expressed so during the comment time).  At the end, some of the older kids stayed to bless us and pray for us.  They gave us massages (as a 10/11 year old can) then we broke off one on one with a kid and they asked us for prayer reqests.  I was with a girl named Shelby, who was super sweet and so fun.  I hope I get the chance to meet her again before this experience is over.

We leave for outreach in just over 2 weeks!!!!!!!  It's getting so close and we are preparing like there's no tomorrow.  The week before we leave, we will be spending the morning in lecture and the afternoon with our team.  Please keep us all in your prayers as we prepare to leave and do leave for outreach.  The updates while in Bangladesh will be very random, because of the lack of good internet connection, but I shall do my best to update you on the major points.
