t - 46 until departure
The time is approacing very quickly to when I depart for a life changing adventure. I am so grateful to God for this opportunity, but I am also nervous about the trip too. Experiences come with many great things to look forward to, but they also come with their share of unknowns that make people nervous. While preparing for the trip, a bunch of us have found each other on Facebook and have started chatting about the trip and each other. This has been a great comfort because I will already know a couple faces when I get down there and it will be an easier transition. There are a total of 27 of us doing the DTS and I can't wait to meet everyone and learn more from our Creator. Thus far, I know of one other Canadian, two norwegians and a bunch of Americans also participating in the DTS.
As the time is drawing near, as everyone has to even for a short trip, the packing must begin. It is quite difficult to know what to pack and how much to pack. Basically it's a variety of clothing (mostly for a warmer climate) some necessary items, but the aim is to pack as little as possible. That can be quite a challenge, as I have discovered, but a few weeding out unnecessary items and all will be set.
This past week at church was really touching. One of the elders from our church shared some words, and a few verses with me for my trip. Then he prayed over me for the journey that lies ahead. After the service, I had many people come up to day goodbye and assure me that I would be in their prayers. It was great to know that so many people in my home church are excited for me to go and will remember me in their prayers while away.
It would not be the truth if I didn't say that I was not excited about the trip. I am very excited and there are a few nerves in there somewhere, but I know that the Lord will take care of me and will protect me along the way. Another huge thanks goes out to all those who have support me in the many facets for this trip. I would appreciate your prayers as I embark on this adventure. I will do my best to keep you all updated on the progress of the trip.
