Under: the goings on
Sorry, these updates are getting later every time. Just a warning, I will be posting on an unconsistant basis while in Bangladesh.
So, a couple weeks ago, our lecture topic was "Holy Spirit." Our speaker was Maria D, she is a past YWAM Maui staff member. We learned a lot of things; Holy Spirit is a He not an it, He has a personality, He has jobs/functions and He works in may different ways. Another thing we learned was that God is not a communist. In saying that we understand and recognize that God works in different ways with different people, so what your neighbour gets may not be what you get. That we also had a few baptisms in a water cooler, nine to be exact, then we were all baptized in the Spirit. It was an awesome experience and Holy Spirit moved according to each individual in the room.
This past week was Relationships. Our speaker Kenny Jackson came from Kona, on the big island. He was great, very dynamic. I was a little bit sick this week so I didn't attend one lecture, and the other one I sat in the next room so I could hear. He told us that fire is good as long as it is used in the right place, in the fireplace not on the notebook on your lap. Kenny was very good and although he was talking on marriage, he made it very applicable to daily life.
Finally, almost all of the base was awake around 4:00am this morning to say goodbye and wave farewell to the other teams going to South East Asia to spread the Word. I said the majority of my goodbyes to the team members last night as to make this morning easier, but it was still sad. We have become a tightly knit family with each other and it felt like we were waving goodbye to blood relatives. I am so excited to go to Bangladesh, but it is a little strange being on an empty base with just our team and the staff. Please keep us in your prayers as we go and minister to the people there. We are going to see God moving in the lives of the Bengali people around us and in ourselves. We don't leave the base until around 6:00pm tonight Maui time, so we still have time to hang out with the staff.
I love you all and we greatly appreciate your prayers. If you want the names of my team mates and leader so you can pray for specific people, use the contact sara page and I shall do my best to email them to you. Communication once we leave the base tonight is going to be a bit random and sparatic so I shall do my best to update when I can. Love you all and I shall be home soon.
